Best Shampoo Options For Your Shiba Inu - OUR 5 FAVORITES
Proper Skincare Essential For Shiba Inu Coats
Along with good nutrition, keeping your Shiba Inu's beautiful coat and skin healthy should be a top priority.
There are so many different dog shampoos available that you may find it hard to choose a proper product for your Shiba Inu's specific needs.
Shiba Inus are dogs known to be prone to certain skin allergies like atopy and flea allergy dermatitis.
For this reason, we recommend dog shampoos that are free of artificial scents and colors as much as possible.
Research has shown that these additives do contribute to certain allergy conditions. Additionally some artificial colors have been correlated with increased cancer rates in humans.
How Often Should You Bathe Your Shiba?
Shiba Inus are clean and fastidious dogs but that doesn't mean you only need to bathe them once a year!
Regular bathing is beneficial - especially for Shiba Inu with skin conditions caused by allergies or F.A.D.
Don't be concerned about about the myth that bathing too often is detrimental for your Shiba's coat.
That's a common myth that circulated for many years and was originally based on the fact that many, many years ago dog "soap" was made out of cheap and harsh ingredients such as LYE.
Today's modern, organic dog shampoos are safe and actually nourishes your dog's coat when used properly.
As a general rule of thumb, bathing and conditioning your indoor Shiba Inu once a month, or every three weeks should be sufficient.

Outdoor Shiba Inus can go longer without baths.
Can I Bathe My Shiba Inu With a Quality Human Shampoo?
No, even if you have the most expensive human shampoo, you should never use any human products for your dog's skin.
Dogs and humans have very different skin P.H. levels with a dog's skin being more acidic.
Using a human shampoo on dog's skin will affect your dog's proper P.H. level making your dog's skin more prone to skin conditions and odor.
On the other hand, there are a bunch of quality dog shampoos that state they are safe to be used on both canines and humans.

FURminator deShedding Ultra Premium Dog Shampoo to Reduce Shedding
Shedding. Shedding. Shedding.
If you have a Shiba Inu, you know that your Shiba's undercoat has become a part of your life.
It's on your clothes, on the carpet, on the sheets, flying around in your car, and sometimes in your cuisine.
While we have learnt to put up with this reality, it's nice to have tools and products to reduce the amount of fur we have to put up with.
Furminator is a brand known for it's products to combat shedding. Recently they released a shampoo line and dog owners are raving about it!
We finally got to try it on our Shibas and so far we're very impressed.
After a few weeks, shedding on all three Shiba Inus was reduced and less vacuuming was needed overall.
While I wouldn't call it a 'miracle' - the results were noticeable.
Besides the anti-shedding properties of the shampoo, it's also paraben free and contains no chemical dyes.
The shampoo is also enriched with Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids, calendula and papaya extracts.
