My Shiba Inu Has a Better Life Than Me
There's a big difference between splurging on your dog and pampering your dog. While my dog could care less if her collar has a Chanel logo or a Sponge Bob logo, she does appreciate being pampered with good food and products that make her life more happier, healthier, and more comfortable.
You are guaranteed to find something in this list that will make your Shiba Inu's life better in some meaningful way. While some of the items are a bit pricey, the overall quality, functionality, and design - not the Logo - of the product justified them making the list.
One of the best things my dog's taught me is that materialism is a trait of truly shallow characters.
Products for Health, Safety, and Mobility
This product roundup features dog products that are meant to address the most important aspects of your Shiba Inu's life - health and wellness. Check out the list and see if you can find something to improve both you and your Shiba Inu's life!
PetFusion Ultimate Dog Bed & Lounge, Grey
Most Shiba Inus spend an average of 12-14 hours a day sleeping. So naturally, it makes sense to invest in an orthopedic dog bed that offers optimal support and comfort. A good orthopedic bed will ensure that your Shiba Inu has optimal cushioning for long term joint health .
The PetFusion Ulitmate Dog Bed offers excellent cushioning via a Smart Base / bolster system and a 4-inch memory foam cushioning.
The PetFusion bed has a skid resistant bottom and has a cover that is both tear-resistant and water-resistant. The cover is also easily removable and machine washable.
Simple, Modern Design
The PetFusion Ulitmate Dog Bed features a modern design that will blend seamlessly with a wide variety of house decor. To further enhance your Shiba Inu's comfort, you can add decorative blankets and pillows to make this bed even more stylish.
K&H Manufacturing Bucket Booster Pet Seat [LARGE]
I am still constantly amazed at the number of otherwise responsible dog owners who still do not buckle up their dogs when driving.
If we can claim to love them "just as if they were our children," then we definitely should care about their comfort and safety in the car. In even a small collision, our beloved pooches become PROJECTILES!
This K&H booster seat features a raised base to give your Shiba an elevated view point. It also has a plush quilted fleece interior for added comfort.
My Shiba, like most dogs feels more secure and comfortable in an enclosed "den-like" area versus being out in the open - especially in bumpy car trips.
Buckle Up!
The booster seat is easy and fast to install and also quick and easy to remove. The main seat belt is installed under the seat's cushion and there is an additional security leash that is to be attached to your dog's harness. [Note: Not recommended to attach to your dog's neck collar as it can be a choking hazard.]
Easy to Clean
The booster seats come in two colors - tan or grey. We like the tan colored one. You will need to get the large sized seat for your Shiba Inu. The main cover is removable and machine washable.
ZiwiPeak Air-Dried Dog Cuisine [VENISON]
The ZiwiPeak Dog line of foods is truly one of the most premium commercial dog foods available. The New Zealand company only uses grass fed, free-range venison from approved and traceable New Zealand farms
All of The Good Stuff - NONE of The Bad
All of ZiwiPeak's products are 100% free of added hormones, fillers, grains, rice, potatoes, antibiotics, and GMO's.
This air-dried Venison cuisine is actually marketed as dog food, but not for everyone's budget! However, I love using these as dog treats for my Shiba Inu. The air-dried bits are the perfect size for treats and I love knowing that I am giving my dog quality, nutritious food that is as close to homemade as it gets!
PetPad Deluxe Convertible StairRamp, 3 Step
The special bond between a dog and it's owners is so precious. Don't let factors such as age, size, or physical limitations get in the way of your Shiba Inu being able to be close to you.
Protects Joints and Prevents Injury
Although my Shiba Inu is still relatively young, I bought this stair ramp to protect her joints from excessive wear and tear due to jumping off the bed - especially at night when she is clumsier and less agile.
Convenient Storage Option
PetPad's Convertible StairRamp features a 3 step stair with simple ramp conversion and folds flat for easy storage - one of our favorite features that made this ramp stand apart from the rest.
Also a Dog Ramp
Reinforced black pine wood frame supports up to 140 lbs. Each step is lined with "PawGrip" carpet that is stain resistant and provides traction for your dog's footing. It's called a "StairRamp" because it can be used as either as stairs or a ramp.
Some dogs with muscle weakness may find climbing and descending from a ramp easier than using steps. This is also another really cool feature that we really like.
Overall, we really liked the quality, versatility, and ease of use in this stair ramp. The price is a bit on the higher side, but the features do justify the price.
Elevated Feeding Bowl
Elevated dog bowls are often overlooked as a non-essential item for our pooches. However, Veterinarians strongly recommend these bowls for a myriad of reasons such as better digestion, arthritic / joint relief from bending over, and better hygiene.
No Floor Eating For Us
As a clean freak, I couldn't imagine having to eat my meals on the floor where dust, debris, and germs regularly circulate. The same goes for my beloved dog also. The raised bowls minimize moisture build up under the bowls which helps to keep bacteria levels in check.
Easier on Your Dog's Joints and Ligaments
Raised dog bowls are especially helpful to larger, older dogs who may have arthritis or stiff joints. Not having to bend over so much just to get food in can greatly increase your dog's eating comfort.
Adjustable / Easy to Clean
The great feature about this elevated dog feeder is that it has the ability to adjust to three different heights. You could get this for your puppy and continue to use it as your puppy reaches adulthood.
This Pet Zone Pet Feeder comes with two one quart stainless steel bowls. The frame is sturdy and easy to adjust. The three height levels are 4", 9", and 14".
Nina Ottosson's Interactive Dog Puzzles
Having a healthy, happy, and well-balanced Shiba Inu involves exercising both your Shiba's body and mind.
While most Shiba Inus are not as 'playful' as other breeds of dogs such as Golden Retrievers - most Shiba Inu's love challenges and figuring things out.
Exercises For Your Shiba Inu's Brain
The Shiba Inu breed has a history of "flushing out" small game from the bush and these interactive puzzle games gives your Shiba a somewhat similar experience by having your Shiba figure out how to flush out the little treats hidden in these puzzles.
Quality Product - Made in Sweden
Nina Ottosson has been designing and creating innovative dog puzzles since 1993. All of her wood puzzles are made in Sweden while most of her plastic puzzles are assembled in China. The wood puzzles are very durable and great for stronger chewers. The plastic puzzles are a better option for using wetter treats, or for dogs that are very "drooly".
Mentally Stimulating and Challenging
These interactive dog puzzles are great for stimulating your dog's motivation to learn. Your dog's confidence level will grow as your dog gets better at figuring out the challenges.
Not all dogs have the same skill level or drive. Some dogs already possess a strong genetic predisposition to fetch and will find certain games easier than for dogs who have to learn this skill. For this reason - Nina's puzzles comes in 3 levels, easy, medium, and hard.

Petzi Treat Cam: Wi-Fi Pet Camera & Treat Dispenser
If your Shiba Inu is a puppy or has not yet learned to properly be alone, this Petzi Treat Cam can provide you with a ton of reassurance for the times when you need to leave your Shiba home alone.
With this Petcam, you can be connected with your puppy or adult dog at all times just as long as you have a working Internet connection. Being able to actively monitor your dog will enable you to take actions in events that could happen while you are away.
Invaluable Tool For New Puppy Parents or Dogs With Separation Anxiety
When my Shiba Inu was a puppy, Petzi did not exist and instead I used my laptop's camera and a free web monitoring program that no longer exists. When I would see my puppy doing puppy things that she shouldn't be doing like gnawing on the plastic crate, I would immediately call home and reprimand her via my telephone answering machine with it's volume on loud.
Now, with the Petzi treat cam, this device can do all of those things and dispense treats too! The overall sound and video quality is above average, although the sound is only one way (you can speak to your dog). Nevertheless, this audio feature is great for calming dogs that have separation anxiety and can be used as a tool to improve this debilitating condition.
The free Petzi app can be used on either your Android, IOS, or tablet system. Installation and setup is pretty easy and the support team at Petzi is really top notch.
There are other Pet cameras available, but we like Petzi because of the companies great customer service and their enthusiasm for their product.
